Submarine Burger
We spend more time ordering online these days as I can not go to the market or stand to cook. We are experimenting with a few ideas but for a few more weeks it will be food from my Mother-in-Law, my wife or delivery.
Ella recently had a birthday and things got confusing as we had told her she could choose the menu for the weekend, but we missed the burger day due to a variety of local issues. So, Tanja saw a new burger place go in about a half of kilometer from us, so we decided to try them.
Submarine Burger has several locations in the area of Belgrade and advertises on its website as 100% natural. They keep the menu pretty simple focusing on the burgers and fries. They add some salads and dessert to the main attraction and kids eat free on Saturday (check the website for rules and restrictions).
I ordered the Original as a double which had the standard pickles cheese, lettuce and sauce (seems like a mayo-ketchup base). They do not have the option for onions or tomatoes, which I will remember for next time. It was a perfect messy American bar cheeseburger. You could not ask for better. There were a few more bites than I could finish as it was quite big. My wife had the Smokehouse burger which was the same except it had BBQ mayo, to which she added avocado.
My daughter had the kid’s meal but seemed like it was not enough for her and she would rather have a Big Mac. The fries were very good, thin, and even delivered crispy. I look forward to the day I can walk over and have a fresh order where I am sure they will be really crispy.
They also serve local and craft beers that I look forward to trying with my burger.
One note this is an American Burger. You can go to a Serbian restaurant and get a flat piece of meat usually on a pita roll with some chopped onions called a burger. You will not recognize the taste of the meat and it will not be what you expect a burger to taste. We have been asking about this to find out more but have yet to uncover the clues.
