Buena Vida
I found American hamburgers and fries, Texas BBQ even KFC here in Belgrade but other than what we made ourselves I was missing TexMex. Chips and hot sauce, tacos and enchiladas were just nowhere to be found. There is a Mexican Resturant two blocks from us but it is a joke, even the margaritas suck.
I saw they opened a New Mexican Food restaurant Buena Vida, recently in New Belgrade in one of the new office and residential areas that are going up all over there. We were in the area to get our second vaccine and we decided to stop there for lunch on the way home. I went right for the Margarita to even see if this was going to have any chance of being good. To my surprise it was excellent. Just like you expect a margarita to taste.
For starters, we ordered the nachos and my wife the grilled artichokes. I was thinking about several items but the nachos were much bigger than their price suggested. Both of those were very similar to TexMex from the US. The chip and hot sauce were also very good and we kept eating on those throughout the meal.
We then ordered tacos, my wife ordered the fried shrimp and I the fried fish. These were small a few bites each but after all the nachos it was just right for an afternoon lunch. So order several to try if you for tacos. It reminded us of the tacos at Five Horses in the SouthEnd of Boston The fish in both cases was fresh, well prepared and the corn tortilla it came on was perfect. Great toppings to boot.
They have a price fixed menu for around $20.00 US where they bring you as many samples of a variety of their items and a brunch on the weekends which is also a fixed price that we have plans to go for real soon.
All in all, I highly recommend as the Mexican food Resturant of Belgrade.
