Gorilla Burger Bar
As I mentioned in the last post, there will be some posts where I will be sharing restaurants in Belgrade that I have not been on site but have ordered via Wolt for delivery. I have written about Wolt before, one of the delivery services in Belgrade. You can order just about anything from electronics to groceries as well as from almost all restaurants. We ordered burgers and iPhone ear buds on the same day. Their delivery and customer service are outstanding.
The Gorilla Bar is a relatively new place a block from the Parliament next to the city’s center, making it walkable from most of the old Belgrade tourist hotels. The website has pictures of the inside, and it looks like an interesting place.
We have twice ordered the Smash Burgers, which sounded the closest to an American burger, and they were also on sale. As it turned out, they are exactly like an American burger. The bun was soft and toasted; the cheese was melted creamy, and while cheddar rather than American, it was perfect. The meat, two patties, was cooked to perfection. So far, This burger was one of the best in Belgrade.
The french fries are ok, better than most, but not perfect to my taste though they come with the burger. I also once order the onion rings and found them wanting. I can not say with certainty, but they seemed like the frozen mass-produced version.
I tried the chicken sandwich once, and the fried chicken cooked perfectly, crispy, and not overdone, as chicken is frequently overcooked in Serbia. I didn’t care for the cole slaw on the sandwich. Honestly, I don’t care for it on any sandwich, especially BBQ. In this case, there was something about the taste I was not fond of, as it seemed to have too much vinegar.
I do highly recommend the burgers and look forward to tying other combinations.
