Orašac Update

I just wanted to say I have been going to Orasac since I first came to Serbia and Belgrade close to twenty years ago when I had begun starting to date my now wife. We bought the apartment we now live in long before we had our daughter and live across the street from the park, so we walk to the restaurant often.

I happened to be looking for a place we had not been to for my birthday (I had suggested I cook, but my wife overruled me; she wants to go out) and put in the search pig on a spit, and Orašac showed up as number one. A couple of holes in the wall near Belgrade are very close in taste, but I can’t argue that it should be the best-rated place for pig and Serbian cuisine.

In reading the review, I saw some that poo-pooed the restaurant, and I just wanted to say I am not sure what these people expected, but it is a great restaurant, and if in Belgrade for just a few days or months should be on your list.

The pig-on-the-spit is to die for, and add in the Mangalitsa sausage when they have that, usually on the weekend. Make a reservation, have a rakia, beer, or a glass of wine, and you never be disappointed
